The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) demanded recently that the government should ensure smooth supply of electricity and gas for the sake of uninterrupted operation of the industries.

The apex trade body made the demand at its standing committee meeting on protection and development of the local industries at its Motijheel office in the capital.

FBCCI leaders at the meeting also called for providing bank loans at low interest rate to the business entities and industrial units.

They said that operational costs at the industrial units have increased due to irregular supply of gas and electricity.

FBCCI president Mahbubul Alam virtually attended the meeting.

Some policies have been incorporated in the proposed budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025 for the betterment of the local industries, said Mahbubul Alam.

He called upon the banks to provide loans at low interest rate aiming to safeguard the local industries.
