Speaking at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity, BSREA President Mostafa Al Mahmud identified solar power, rooftop solar and battery energy storage as key areas for bilateral cooperation.
He said Australia’s expertise could help Bangladesh expand solar generation, integrate renewable energy into the national grid and improve electricity market management. Joint ventures could also facilitate technology transfer, create jobs and strengthen local manufacturing capacity for solar equipment.
The four-day visit, coordinated locally by BSREA with support from the Renewable Energy Council Asia-Pacific, Smart Energy Council and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), included meetings with government officials, investors and industry representatives.
The delegation met Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun on October 24 to discuss investment opportunities and policy support. It also participated in clean energy seminars and business networking events, met the commerce minister and Power Division secretary, and attended Renewable Energy Fest 2026 at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
At a dialogue organized by BSREA, participants discussed renewable energy investment, technology transfer, research and skills development.
BSREA identified investment opportunities in industrial and commercial rooftop solar, battery storage, solar-powered irrigation and decentralized power generation, as well as the local manufacturing and assembly of solar panels, inverters and batteries.
The association said sustained cooperation between businesses, policymakers and researchers would be essential to translate the delegation’s visit into concrete investment and technology partnerships.
