DHAKA, July 8, 2026 (PR) – Bangladesh and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with a particular focus on investment, LNG supply and government-to-government (G2G) collaboration.
The commitment was reiterated during a courtesy meeting between Türkiye’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ramis ?en, and Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud, MP, at the minister’s office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Turkish delegation included Bilal Belyurt, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Türkiye, and Harun Ortaç, Chief Executive Officer of United Aygaz LPG Ltd.
During the meeting, Ambassador ?en congratulated the minister on assuming office and conveyed the continued goodwill of the Government of Türkiye towards Bangladesh. He also briefed the minister on the current state of bilateral relations and outlined Turkish plans to expand trade and investment in Bangladesh.
Welcoming the Turkish delegation, Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud reaffirmed the Bangladesh government’s commitment to encouraging greater foreign investment in the country’s energy sector. He expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Türkiye, particularly in LNG supply and other energy-related investments.
The minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening government-to-government cooperation to boost bilateral trade and help reduce the trade imbalance between the two countries.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in Bangladesh-Türkiye economic relations and discussed opportunities to further deepen collaboration in the power and energy sectors.
During the meeting, Ambassador ?en invited the minister to visit Türkiye to explore new avenues of cooperation and further strengthen bilateral ties. The minister welcomed the invitation and expressed his willingness to visit Türkiye at the earliest convenient opportunity.
