Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) and East West University (EWU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly advance research and performance monitoring of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across Bangladesh, with a focus on improving the efficiency and sustainability of renewable energy projects.

The agreement was signed by IDCOL Managing Director Alamgir Morshed and EWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shams Rahman on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the partnership, IDCOL’s technical monitoring facilities and laboratory resources will be integrated with EWU’s academic and research expertise to conduct detailed analysis of data collected from solar parks and rooftop solar installations across the country. The collaboration aims to assess the reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance of solar PV systems.

In addition to research activities, the two institutions will jointly organize training programs, workshops, and knowledge-sharing events for students, researchers, engineers, and renewable energy professionals. The initiative is expected to strengthen technical capacity and promote evidence-based decision-making for investors, developers, and policymakers.

Officials said the collaboration represents an important step toward bridging industry and academia, helping generate high-quality research and practical insights to support Bangladesh’s transition to clean energy and accelerate the sustainable growth of its solar power sector.
