Chattogram, August 23, 2026: The Asian University for Women (AUW) recently hosted the closing ceremony of its 2026 Math and Science Summer School, supported by Chevron Bangladesh. The four-week program concluded with certificates being awarded to 104 college students from across Bangladesh. 

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Divisional Commissioner, Chattogram, as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Ashiq Rahman, Director of Operations, Chevron Bangladesh, and Dee Bourbon, Lead Advisor, Community Partnerships, Chevron.

 

 

Dr. Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury, Director of the Summer School at AUW, thanked the participating students and faculty for their commitment and hard work. He said the program continues to create valuable opportunities for young women interested in science, technology and related fields.

 

Ashiq Rahman said Chevron Bangladesh has been proud to support the Math and Science Summer School since 2019. “Through initiatives like this, we aim to encourage more young women to pursue STEM education and unlock their potential,” he said.

 

Dee Bourbon said the program helps young women build confidence, expand their knowledge and pursue opportunities that can shape their futures.

 

In his speech, Chief Guest Dr. Md. Ziauddin praised AUW and Chevron Bangladesh for their continued efforts to promote women’s education and develop future STEM leaders. He highlighted the importance of initiatives such as the Summer School in preparing the next generation of scientists, innovators and changemakers.

 

A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the “Emerging Woman Leader in STEM” award to nine outstanding participants for their exceptional performance and leadership potential.

 

Since its launch in 2019, the Chevron-supported AUW Summer School has provided 477 young women from across Bangladesh with specialized learning opportunities in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming and public health, taught by local and international faculty.
