Dhaka, 21 August 2026: Bangladesh has formally launched the Invest Bangladesh Authority, bringing the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) under a single institutional framework.

The government made the Invest Bangladesh Act, 2026 effective through a gazette notification on August 20. The new authority will function under the Prime Minister’s Office as the country’s apex investment development agency.

The merger aims to provide investors with faster and more coordinated services by bringing investment promotion, economic zone development and public-private partnership activities under one roof. It will also introduce a unified digital platform for investment-related approvals, licences and clearances.

Invest Bangladesh will focus on attracting domestic and foreign investment, identifying investment opportunities, removing regulatory barriers and coordinating with relevant government agencies. The authority will also facilitate industrial zone development and PPP projects.

The assets, records, contracts, liabilities and personnel of the three merged agencies will be transferred to the new authority. The government expects the unified structure to reduce duplication, improve coordination and create a more investor-friendly business environment.
