Dutch Geo-data specialist Fugro has secured a contract to conduct an offshore survey program for the Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan pipeline developments in Timor-Leste, supporting two of the country’s most significant energy projects.

The program will provide critical seabed and geotechnical data to support pipeline routing, engineering design, geohazard assessment and the safe development of offshore infrastructure.

Under the contract, Fugro will carry out geophysical, seismic and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) surveys in offshore areas, including waters deeper than 3,000 meters. The company will also use its Remote Operations Centers to enhance survey efficiency and data quality, while processing survey data through its regional centers in Kuala Lumpur and Perth.

Project planning and mobilization are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with offshore survey operations expected to start in the fourth quarter. The offshore campaign will last about three months.

Safri Drahman, Fugro’s APAC Regional Business Line Director, said the contract reflects the client’s confidence in the company’s ability to deliver complex offshore survey programs and provide the Geo-data needed for the safe and efficient development of strategic energy infrastructure.

The contract further strengthens Fugro’s position as a leading provider of offshore site characterization and marine survey services across the Asia-Pacific region.
