Bangladesh has raised jet fuel prices for both domestic and international airlines, with the new rates taking effect from midnight on Sunday (August 9).
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of jet fuel for domestic flights from Tk 130.99 to Tk 159.52 per liter, an increase of Tk 28.53 per liter.
For international flights, the price has been raised from $0.85 to $1.03 per liter.
The latest adjustment comes just over a month after BERC cut the domestic jet fuel price by nearly Tk 20 per liter on July 7.
BERC began setting jet fuel prices in May 2025, with a mechanism to adjust prices periodically in line with international market trends. Under the system, domestic prices are revised upward when global prices rise and reduced when international prices fall.
The latest hike is expected to increase operating costs for airlines, particularly domestic carriers.
