DHAKA, June 6, 2026 – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the government’s nationwide programme to plant 250 million trees and activities marking World Environment Day.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, focused on climate-related messaging and implementation strategies for the tree plantation campaign, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
Officials concerned attended the meeting and discussed various aspects of the campaign, including public awareness initiatives and environmental outreach programmes aimed at promoting climate action and sustainability.
The nationwide tree plantation drive forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen environmental protection, enhance climate resilience and expand the country’s green cover.
