Dhaka, June 3, 2026: The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has signed a subsidiary loan and grant agreement with the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance to implement a US$70 million project aimed at promoting climate-resilient agriculture, environmentally sustainable enterprises and improved nutrition across Bangladesh.
Named the Growth for Climate Resilient and Environmental Entrepreneurship and Nutrition (GREEN) Project, the initiative seeks to strengthen climate adaptation, support green entrepreneurship and enhance food and nutrition security through an integrated development approach.
The agreement was signed at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday by PKSF Deputy Managing Director Dr. Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam and Finance Division Joint Secretary Mst Nazneen.
The project will be financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) through the Government of Bangladesh and will be implemented nationwide between 2026 and 2031.
According to PKSF, the project will prioritize regions based on poverty levels, climate vulnerability and agricultural potential. Approximately 260,000 beneficiaries are expected to be brought under the programme, including poor and marginal farmers, women and youth entrepreneurs, small agribusiness owners, climate-vulnerable households and members of ethnic minority communities.
The GREEN Project will focus on building climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable food systems, expanding access to inclusive financial services and strengthening institutional capacities. It also aims to promote safe food production, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable production systems and income-generating opportunities for rural entrepreneurs.
Officials said the initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Bangladesh’s efforts to enhance climate resilience, promote green economic growth and improve livelihoods in rural communities while supporting the country’s broader sustainable development goals.
