
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has postponed the schedule of the opening of country’s largest mega coal-fired Power Plant having capacity to generate 660MW electricity on March 31, 2021, a top official said.
The decision came up from prime minister’s office recently.
As part of the Prime Minister’s scheduled opening of the power plant, Power Division secretary Md Habibur Rahman and top officials of the power division visited Payra power hub on Tuesday. “PMO has postponed the upcoming inauguration program in March 31, 2021,” said an official at Bangladesh-China Power Plant.
Now, the unit-1 of the Payra Power Plant supplies 600MW electricity in grid.
During the trip of Power Secretary, information about plant’s turbine panel, boiler management, power transmission and control systems, rehabilitation center and Bangladesh-China Technical Institute activities are briefed by top officials of the plant.
