
The Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) has acquired land with a length of 12 kilometers in Sitakunda area for construction of the 181km long Chattogram-Feni-Bakhrabad gas transmission parallel pipeline.
The authority has paid an amount of Tk 421 crore for compensation of more than 700 residences of the local people.
After making payment of the compensation, the owners of those residences had left their abode for construction of the Pipelines.
Following the delay of acquisition of those lands at Sitakunda, the construction works of the 181 km long Chattogram -Feni-Bakhrabad gas transmission parallel pipeline has been delayed. It was scheduled to be completed by June last.
One senior official of the GTCL confirmed that the construction works of the project would be completed by December this year. The official said that more than 90 per cent works have already been completed.
Besides, the construction works of the parallel gas transmission line from Moheshkhali to Anowara is expected to start transmission from December next as the 85 percent construction works of the project have already been completed.
