SIRAJGANJ, July 17, 2026: Bangladesh’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud on Friday inaugurated a 150-kilowatt peak (kWp) on-grid rooftop solar power system installed at the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The rooftop solar plant, commissioned on July 5, has already generated 6.13 MWh of electricity. It was connected to the net metering system on July 9.
The project was implemented at a cost of Tk 7.13 million, with funding from the Cabinet Division. Pristine Crossing Point Ltd. executed the project with technical support from NESCO Sirajganj.

Speaking at the inauguration, the minister called for initiatives to establish Sirajganj as a model district for solar power. He said the government aims to replicate the Sirajganj model across the country to accelerate the expansion of rooftop solar and help achieve Bangladesh’s renewable energy targets.
Earlier in the day, the minister attended a program organized by the Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Parishad, where he said the government is working to build a “new Bangladesh” under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
