DHAKA, June 30, 2026: The Government of Bangladesh has decided to keep retail prices of all major petroleum products unchanged for July 2026, maintaining the rates that came into effect in June under the country’s automatic fuel pricing mechanism.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the revised prices announced on 31 May will remain effective from 1 July 2026.

The ministry conveyed its decision through an official letter to the Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), stating that the existing retail prices have been retained with the approval of the competent authority.
Bangladesh introduced an automatic fuel pricing mechanism in 2024 to align domestic petroleum prices more closely with movements in the international market. Under the system, fuel prices are reviewed every month based on a pricing formula that considers international refined petroleum prices, import costs, freight, customs duties, taxes, exchange rate movements, BPC’s operating margin, value-added tax (VAT), and distribution expenses.
The government’s decision to leave prices unchanged comes despite continued fluctuations in global oil markets, indicating that the overall pricing formula did not warrant any adjustment for July.
In June, the government kept the retail price of diesel unchanged at BDT 115 per liter, while increasing the prices of petrol, octane and kerosene by BDT 5 per liter. Those revised rates will continue throughout July.
The monthly review mechanism is intended to ensure greater transparency in domestic fuel pricing while reducing the financial burden on the government from prolonged fuel subsidies during periods of high international oil prices.
