Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) hosted a strategic roundtable in Dhaka to discuss potential investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector with Norfund, Norway’s development finance institution.

The event brought together representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Norfund, and sponsors of bankable renewable energy projects to strengthen cooperation in support of Bangladesh’s clean energy transition.

The roundtable was attended by Norwegian Ambassador Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen as chief guest. Other participants included Economic Affairs and Trade Advisor Bayzid Muntasir Sayeed and Razi Amin, advisor to Norfund and the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The session was chaired by IDCOL Managing Director Alamgir Morshed.

During the discussion, IDCOL officials highlighted the need for long-term financing to support renewable energy projects in Bangladesh. Norfund representatives expressed interest in strategic equity investment in commercially viable renewable energy projects.

In his closing remarks, Alamgir Morshed reaffirmed IDCOL’s commitment to facilitating partnerships between international development finance institutions and local project sponsors through its advisory services. Further discussions between Norfund and selected project developers are expected to continue in the coming months.
