DHAKA, May 3, 2026 — Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector continues to strengthen its global leadership in sustainable manufacturing, as four additional factories have earned prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Report BSS

With these new recognitions, the country now boasts a total of 284 LEED-certified RMG factories, including 121 with Platinum ratings and 144 with Gold ratings. Impressively, Bangladesh is home to 52 of the world’s top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories—highlighting its significant progress in environmentally responsible industrial practices.

The latest factories to achieve LEED certification are:

  • Pahartoli Textiles Limited Unit-02 — Awarded Platinum under LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, scoring 86 points
  • Welldone Apparel Ltd — Awarded Gold under LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, scoring 75 points
  • Everbright Sweater Ltd — Awarded Platinum with 83 points under LEED O+M v4.1
  • Siam Computerized Elastic Industries Ltd.-MUMTEX — Awarded Platinum with 84 points under the same system

Industry leaders have welcomed the new certifications, noting that they reflect Bangladesh’s growing commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible production.

The LEED certification, awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, is widely regarded as a global benchmark for green building excellence. Achieving Platinum or Gold status requires meeting strict criteria in energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, sustainable site development, and resource management.

Industry analysts note that Bangladesh’s leadership in green garment factories enhances its global competitiveness while meeting the growing demand from international buyers for environmentally compliant supply chains.

The continued expansion of LEED-certified factories signals Bangladesh’s transition toward a more sustainable and responsible apparel industry. As the sector remains the backbone of the country’s export economy, these advancements align with global climate goals while reinforcing Bangladesh’s position as one of the world’s leading garment exporters.
