Additional Secretary Md Arfanul Hoque has joined as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) on deputation on February 5, 2026. Prior to his appointment, he served as an Additional Secretary at the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
Md Arfanul Hoque is a member of the 18th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre and joined the civil service on January 25, 1999. Over the course of his career, he has served in a range of field administration roles, including First Class Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner (Land), and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).
He has also held various senior positions in several government bodies, including the Ministry of Education, ICT Division, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and the Ministry of Public Administration.
In terms of academic background, he earned his Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka, and later completed a second Master’s degree in International Relations from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.
