AxDo Bahamas Limited, a joint venture between Swiss energy company Axpo and Bahamas-based Domicisle LNG, has signed an 11-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with US-based Excelerate Energy to support the development of a regional LNG hub in The Bahamas.
The agreement provides for deliveries of up to 16 trillion British thermal units (TBtu) of LNG annually, making AxDo an anchor customer for Excelerate’s planned offshore LNG storage and distribution terminal near Grand Bahama. The deal establishes a long-term commercial foundation for the Bahamas LNG Hub.
Established in October 2026, AxDo Bahamas was formed to conduct small-scale LNG and bunkering operations in the region. The partnership combines Axpo’s international energy trading and supply-chain expertise with Domicisle’s local market knowledge and distribution capabilities, alongside Excelerate’s LNG infrastructure and supply capacity.
The planned hub is designed to serve growing LNG demand in The Bahamas and across the Caribbean, supplying marine bunkering, power generation and other downstream customers. The partners say the project could expand regional access to natural gas while strengthening energy security and supporting economic growth.
Initial LNG deliveries are expected to begin in 2027, using existing supply and logistics capabilities from Excelerate’s Jamaica platform. A second phase is expected to involve deployment of a floating storage unit near Grand Bahama in 2028, subject to permitting, construction schedules and other contractual conditions.
Located along a major Caribbean maritime corridor, Grand Bahama is positioned to support cruise ship bunkering, power generation and regional LNG distribution.
Axpo Head of Small-Scale LNG Daniele Corti said the agreement would bring the company’s international energy-market and supply-chain experience to the Caribbean.
Domicisle LNG CEO Greg Buffington said the partnership would help make natural gas more accessible to power producers, marine operators and communities across the islands.
Excelerate Energy Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Oliver Simpson said the project would create opportunities to combine LNG supply, logistics and infrastructure to develop new markets and meet growing regional demand.
