Dhaka, October 4, 2026: The Parliamentary Caucus on Climate Change and Displacement, comprising members of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, held its first meeting at the Parliament Complex on Sunday to discuss its proposed work plan and future activities.
Caucus Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury chaired the meeting, which discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary engagement on climate change and displacement. Members recommended inviting representatives of key ministries and government agencies to the next meeting to improve coordination.
Representatives from the Ministries of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives; Water Resources; Disaster Management and Relief; Foreign Affairs; and the Internal Resources Division were proposed for invitation.
The meeting also proposed forming an inter-ministerial coordination committee to address climate change and displacement issues more effectively.
Caucus members Amirul Islam Khan, Rashedul Islam Rashed, Anwarul Haque, Rumeen Farhana and Marzia Begum attended the meeting, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and the Parliament Secretariat.
A workshop on climate change and displacement was also held for caucus members as part of the meeting’s program.
