Dhaka, October 4, 2026: The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Tk21 per kilogram for October, taking the price of a 12kg cylinder to Tk1,837, up Tk252 from the previous month.
The revised prices will come into effect at 6pm on Sunday and remain effective until further notice, according to a BERC notification.
The regulator has set the retail price of privately marketed LPG, including VAT, at Tk153.06 per kg, compared with Tk132.08 in September. The September price had reduced the cost of a 12kg cylinder by Tk13 to Tk1,585.

The latest increase follows a rise in Saudi Aramco’s Contract Price (Saudi CP). The average Saudi CP for propane and butane, calculated at a 35:65 ratio, increased to $712.50 per tonne in October, from $647.75 in September.
BERC fixed the price of a 5.5kg cylinder at Tk842, up from Tk727, while the price of a 12.5kg cylinder rose to Tk1,913 from Tk1,652.
The prices of 15kg, 20kg and 45kg cylinders have been set at Tk2,296, Tk3,061 and Tk6,888, respectively, compared with Tk1,982, Tk2,642 and Tk5,945 in September.
The regulator also raised the consumer price of autogas, mainly used in vehicles, to Tk84.62 per liter, up Tk11.53 from Tk73.09 in September.
For LPG supplied through reticulated systems, BERC fixed the consumer price at Tk149.31 per kg in liquid form and Tk0.3319 per liter, equivalent to Tk331.90 per cubic metre, in gaseous form.
The price of state-owned LPG remains unchanged at Tk776.93 for a 12.5kg cylinder at dealer and retailer points under BERC’s February 23, 2026 order.
BERC instructed LPG storage and bottling licence holders to sell LPG to distributors at the revised post-bottling price and issue the required VAT invoices or delivery orders.
The new price comes amid reports of LPG supply shortages and widespread overcharging in parts of the country. In September, despite the official price of Tk1,585 for a 12kg cylinder, consumers in some areas reportedly paid substantially higher prices because of supply constraints.
