SINGAPORE, October 20, 2026 — Mitsubishi Power, a power solutions brand of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has completed the retrofit of Unit 3 at Indonesia’s Darajat Geothermal Power Plant, increasing its output by 8 MW to 129 MW and making it the country’s largest single-unit geothermal generating facility.

Owned by Star Energy Geothermal Darajat II, Limited (SEG), the plant has commenced commercial operation following the upgrade. The project exceeded guaranteed operational performance, was completed ahead of schedule and recorded no safety incidents.

The retrofit involved upgrading facilities equipped with steam turbines manufactured by MHI in Nagasaki. Mitsubishi Power managed the design, manufacturing and installation support, while its Indonesian subsidiary carried out on-site work under a turnkey arrangement.

At a ceremony in Jakarta on October 14, Mitsubishi Power and SEG also signed a Technical Study and Cooperation Agreement to explore advanced maintenance technologies aimed at improving turbine output, plant reliability and availability.

The project supports Indonesia’s renewable energy development and decarbonization efforts. Mitsubishi Power said it would continue working with SEG to enhance the plant’s long-term performance through advanced technologies and lifecycle support.
