Dhaka, July 20, 2026 (PR) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo has said that all ongoing development projects under his ministry will be reviewed and revised to ensure alignment with the government’s election manifesto and development priorities.
He made the remarks while chairing an inter-ministerial meeting held on Monday at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to review ongoing and proposed projects included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The minister said new projects would be undertaken on a priority basis so that their benefits become visible within the current government’s tenure. He stressed that future development initiatives would be designed to reflect the aspirations of the people and fulfil the government’s commitments.
State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is closely monitoring the implementation of development activities across ministries. He emphasized that new projects should be selected with the objective of maximizing public benefits.
State Minister for Planning Md. Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki also participated in the review meeting. He said that, under the Prime Minister’s directive, development projects across all ministries are being reassessed to ensure timely implementation. He noted that the government aims to approve a larger number of new projects this year so that they can be completed within the current administration’s term.
The meeting reviewed both ongoing and proposed projects under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, focusing on their relevance, implementation strategy and alignment with the government’s development agenda.
Among those present were Acting Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Fahmida Khanam, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Md. Saimum Parvez, Planning Commission members, senior ministry officials, heads of agencies and project directors.
