The Ministry of Youth and Sports plans to expand biogas technology to remote and marginalized communities across Bangladesh within the next two years to help address the country’s energy crisis, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque said.
He announced the plan at a biogas plant inauguration ceremony organized by the ministry in the Link Road area of Cox’s Bazar recently, according to a press release.
The state minister said the initiative, currently limited in scope, would be expanded nationwide. Two local farmers were each provided with loans of Tk 1.5 lakh to encourage the installation of biogas plants.
He also announced plans to publish and distribute an information booklet at the grassroots level to raise awareness about biogas technology and its benefits.
