US President Donald Trump has announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure, although neither side had immediately confirmed the agreement.
“Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform recently, without providing further details.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv was ready to stop striking Russian oil refineries if Moscow halted attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He urged Washington to pressure Russia into serious negotiations to end the war.
The announcement came amid escalating attacks and tensions between Trump and Zelensky over US sanctions relief for Russian diesel exports. Zelensky argued that easing pressure on Moscow could encourage further Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities.
