Bangladesh has sought comprehensive Saudi cooperation to ensure long-term energy security, including reliable LNG supplies, investment in renewable energy and the development of dedicated LNG infrastructure.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit made the request during high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 17th International Energy Forum (IEF-17) in Saudi Arabia recently, according to a ministry press release.

During a meeting with Saudi Assistant Minister of Energy Nasser bin Hadi Al-Qahtani, Amit called for stronger bilateral energy cooperation to meet Bangladesh’s growing energy demand.

He proposed long-term LNG supply arrangements, the establishment of a dedicated LNG terminal, and regular exchanges of delegations to strengthen cooperation in support of Bangladesh’s Vision 2030 energy targets.

The Saudi side described Bangladesh as a brotherly nation and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in energy and other development initiatives.
