DHAKA, Oct 3, 2026 - State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam today said, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has set up a solar panel on the rooftop of his Gulshan residence from which 1,200 units of electricity is being supplied to the national grid. The Prime Minister is using 1,000 units of electricity from the solar panel on the rooftop of his Gulshan residence and supplying 1,200 units of electricity to the national grid, Shahe Alam said.
He said, the Prime Minister has set an example by producing and using solar power. Arrangements will be made to use the rooftops of all government buildings to set up solar panel to meet their own electricity demand and supply surplus units in the neighbourhood.
The state minister also said that the electricity generation process should be viewed as a business.
He made the remarks at a review meeting titled- Solar Electricity, Dengue Prevention and Development Program Review Meeting- held at the Cooperative Building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city today.
