YEREVAN, Armenia, October 16, 2026: Armenia officially opened its national pavilion at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Armenia’s Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan attending the ceremony.
Located in the conference’s Blue Zone, the pavilion will serve as a platform to showcase Armenia’s rich biodiversity, natural landscapes, historical heritage and culture to the international community.

Minister Matevosyan said the pavilion would help present Armenia’s natural and cultural wealth while creating opportunities for international cooperation and new partnerships.
The opening comes as Armenia hosts the COP17 Leaders’ Summit ahead of the main biodiversity conference, scheduled for October 19–30, 2026.
COP17 is expected to focus on accelerating implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in 2022, and advancing global efforts to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.
The Armenian pavilion will provide a space for dialogue and engagement on biodiversity conservation, connecting the country’s national priorities with international efforts to protect nature and ecosystems.
