Soya Group has launched FLOW Maritime, a new marine energy transition company aimed at helping shipowners accelerate decarbonization while maximizing the commercial benefits of adopting alternative fuels.
The company seeks to support the global maritime industry’s shift towards lower-carbon shipping by integrating alternative fuel portfolio management, certified chain-of-custody systems, FuelEU pooling and environmental attributes into a unified commercial model.
The transition to cleaner shipping fuels is creating new challenges and opportunities as fuel supply, emissions certification, regulatory compliance and environmental markets become increasingly interconnected. FLOW Maritime aims to bridge these areas, helping shipowners navigate regulatory requirements and improve the commercial viability of lower-carbon operations.
“Shipping companies are under growing pressure to reduce emissions, but the business case for doing so is often assessed too narrowly,” said Daniel Gent, Managing Director of FLOW Maritime. He noted that considering compliance benefits, emissions reductions and environmental attributes alongside fuel prices could significantly change the economics of the transition.
As part of Soya Group, FLOW Maritime will draw on its parent group’s maritime experience, industry relationships and long-term investment approach to support customers through the transition.
Transparency and traceability will be central to its operations. The company plans to use certification processes, documented chain-of-custody management and clear governance to ensure that the environmental benefits and commercial value associated with alternative fuels are credible and verifiable.
FLOW Maritime aims to become a long-term partner for shipowners by connecting fuel supply, regulatory expertise and environmental value, helping accelerate the adoption of alternative fuels and support decarbonization across the global maritime sector.
