DHAKA, July 30, 2026 — The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has launched the Growth for Climate Resilient and Environmental Entrepreneurship and Nutrition (GREEN) Project, a major initiative designed to strengthen climate resilience, promote sustainable entrepreneurship, improve food and nutrition systems, and support inclusive economic growth across Bangladesh.
The project was officially inaugurated on Thursday at PKSF Bhaban in Dhaka. The ceremony was chaired by PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader.
In his opening remarks, PKSF Deputy Managing Director Dr. Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam outlined the project’s objectives and strategic importance, while Md. Habibur Rahman, Deputy General Manager and Project Coordinator, presented an overview of the initiative. PKSF Deputy Managing Directors A.Q.M. Golam Mawla, Md. Mashiar Rahman, and Md. Hasan Khaled also highlighted the organization’s ongoing development initiatives and future priorities.
The GREEN Project will be implemented over the 2026–2031 period with a total investment of US$211.7 million. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will provide US$70 million, with the remaining funding coming from PKSF and its Partner Organisations.
According to PKSF, the project will play a key role in expanding climate-smart agriculture, environmentally sustainable enterprises, and improved nutrition throughout the country.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader said PKSF is moving beyond the traditional microfinance model by focusing on growth-oriented financing that supports sustainable development.
He said the GREEN Project aims to transform Bangladesh’s microenterprise sector into a driver of inclusive economic growth by promoting digital financing, agroecological farming, agriculture-based enterprises, agro-processing and value addition, safe and nutritious food systems, renewable energy—particularly solar power—and circular economy practices.
The project is expected to directly benefit more than 258,000 families living in Bangladesh’s haor, coastal, Barind, and char regions, where communities are particularly vulnerable to climate change.
PKSF said the initiative will prioritize women, youth, small ethnic communities, socially marginalized groups, and micro-entrepreneurs by expanding access to climate-resilient food systems, green technologies, sustainable enterprise development, inclusive financial services, and stronger institutional support through its Partner Organisations.
Officials expressed hope that the GREEN Project will significantly enhance Bangladesh’s resilience to climate change while creating new opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, green investment, and environmentally responsible economic development.
