Mitsubishi Power and LNGPH have signed a long-term agreement to strengthen the reliability and performance of the 1,200-megawatt Ilihan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas, reinforcing the Philippines’ energy security and supporting long-term economic growth.
The Long-Term Parts and Services Agreement (LTPSA) was signed between Mitsubishi Power’s Philippine after-sales subsidiary, MHI Power (Philippines) Plant Services Corporation (MHI-PSC), and South Premiere Power Corporation (SPPC), a corporate unit of LNGPH. The agreement marks a new phase in a partnership that has spanned more than two decades.
Under the agreement, MHI-PSC will provide essential services for the plant’s M501G gas turbines, including the supply of hot gas path components and spare parts, repair services, inspection management, and technical advisory support. These services are designed to ensure the plant’s continued operational reliability and efficiency amid evolving energy market conditions.
Mitsubishi Power first supplied the M501G gas turbines to the Ilihan power plant in 2002, making the latest agreement a continuation of its long-standing contribution to one of Luzon’s most important power generation facilities.
LNGPH operates an integrated liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal and gas-to-power complex in Batangas with a total installed capacity of 2.5 gigawatts. The facility plays a critical role in supplying natural gas for electricity generation across the Luzon power grid. LNGPH is jointly owned by Chromite Gas Holdings Inc., Meralco PowerGen Corporation, Therma Natgas Power Inc., and San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corporation.
Akihiro Ondo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific, said the agreement underscores the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and flexible energy solutions for the Philippines. He noted that maintaining the performance of critical power infrastructure will help meet the country’s growing electricity demand for decades to come.
LNGPH President and CEO Yari A. Miralao described the agreement as a reflection of a trusted partnership built on operational excellence and a shared commitment to national energy security. He said the plant, supported by a power supply agreement extending through 2040, will continue to play a vital role in meeting the country’s energy needs.
Mitsubishi Power has a significant presence in the Philippines, employing more than 1,600 engineers and supplying over a quarter of the country’s installed power generation capacity. The company also operates one of its four global TOMONI® Hubs in the Philippines, providing remote monitoring, predictive diagnostics, and operational support for power plants across the Asia-Pacific region. Through these initiatives, Mitsubishi Power continues to support the Philippines’ efforts to strengthen energy security, reliability, and decarbonization.
