State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit, has said that the government has been able to ensure energy supply until next April. He added that the government is now working to maintain a reserve sufficient for 90 days’ demand at all times.
He made these remarks on Friday (March 27) while speaking as the chief guest at an event held in Jashore, organized for the distribution of one-time financial assistance cheques to underprivileged and distressed individuals by the National Social Welfare Council.
The event was organized by the District Social Services Office with the support of the Jashore District Administration.
In his speech, the State Minister also said, “Despite around 80 countries increasing fuel oil prices amid the current global situation, Bangladesh has refrained from doing so in the interest of its people. The government is providing a subsidy of 1.07 billion taka per day in the energy sector.”
