State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Monday sought enhanced energy cooperation with Algeria to support Bangladesh’s long-term energy security.
She made the call during a meeting with Algerian Ambassador Abdelouahab Saidani at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she also thanked Algeria for its interest in expanding collaboration in the hydrocarbon sector.
Both sides discussed boosting cooperation in energy, trade, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding and manpower.
The state minister emphasized stronger people-to-people ties and welcomed efforts to establish a Joint Consultative Commission.
The ambassador reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to expanding cooperation and assured continued support for Bangladesh.
