Jashore, April 11 — State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit on Saturday said the government is ensuring uninterrupted electricity and fuel supply to farmers despite the global energy crisis.

He said Bangladesh has been affected by rising global fuel prices, but the government is working to minimize public suffering, particularly during the ongoing irrigation season.

“The government is taking all necessary steps so that farmers are not affected. Continuous power and fuel supply is being maintained,” he told journalists.

The minister was speaking after inspecting preparations for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s upcoming visit to Jashore on April 27.

During the visit, the prime minister is expected to lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital, take part in the re-excavation of Ulashi canal, and address a public rally.

Earlier, the state minister held a meeting with local officials and visited key project sites in the district.
