Qatar has reported “significant damage” to its critical gas infrastructure following Iranian missile strikes on the Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas facilities.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a serious violation of sovereignty and a threat to national security. Fires broke out at the site but were largely brought under control, with no casualties reported, according to authorities and QatarEnergy.

In a subsequent update, officials confirmed that additional LNG facilities were also hit, causing further fires and extensive damage.
The strikes came after Iran threatened to target energy infrastructure across the Gulf in retaliation for an earlier attack on the South Pars Gas Field. Several sites in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were reportedly placed on alert.
The Ras Laffan complex, located northeast of Doha, accounts for around 20 percent of global LNG supply, making it vital for energy markets in Asia and Europe.
The escalation has heightened concerns over global energy security, with analysts warning that prolonged disruptions could keep LNG prices elevated and strain supply, particularly for import-dependent regions.
