The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has withdrawn its recent decision to increase jet fuel prices, ensuring that rates will remain unchanged ahead of the Eid holidays.

BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said the price adjustment will be reviewed after the Eid.

On Wednesday night, the commission had announced a sharp increase in jet fuel prices—raising domestic rates from Tk 112.41 to Tk 194.18 per liter and setting international route prices at $1.26 per liter. However, despite declaring the new rates effective immediately, the decision was later reversed.

This came just ten days after a previous price hike, sparking concern among stakeholders.

BERC first introduced a formal pricing mechanism for jet fuel in May 2025, linking domestic prices to the international market. Under this system, prices are adjusted monthly based on global trends—rising when international prices increase and falling when they decline.

Before this policy, jet fuel prices were set periodically by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.
