The 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Power Grid Bangladesh PLC was held Saturday, January 24, 2026 on a hybrid platform (combining physical and digital methods) at the auditorium of Power Grid's head office in Dhaka.
The meeting was presided over by the company's Chairman, Dr. M. Rezwan Khan. Managing Director Abdur Rashid Khan presented a multimedia presentation on the activities of the 2024-25 fiscal year at the meeting. Company Secretary Md. Jahangir Azad moderated the meeting.
It was informed at the meeting that although the company maintained strong operating activities in the past fiscal year 2024-25, the company incurred a loss of Tk 210.62 crore after tax due to the additional cost of repaying foreign currency loans taken for the implementation of development projects.
In addition, the undistributed retained earnings were also negative. As a result, it was not possible to pay any dividends this time as per the Companies Act.
At the AGM, the esteemed shareholders expressed their valuable opinions and demanded regular dividend payments to elevate the company to a profitable position.
The directors informed the shareholders about the various initiatives taken to bring the company to a profitable position and said that maximum efforts are being made towards this end.
It was also reported that the company's losses have gradually decreased compared to the previous fiscal year. If this trend continues, the company will gradually reach a profitable position in the future.
Power Grid Company is owned by the entrepreneurial shareholder Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) with 58.50% ownership and the government of Bangladesh owning 22%. The remaining 19.5% is owned by general shareholders.
