Cox’s Bazar, May 25, 2025 (PR) - Nature Insights, a new magazine dedicated to environmental restoration and sustainable futures, was officially launched at a sunset gathering by the Bay of Bengal at Mermaid Beach Resort in Cox’s Bazar. Backed by Change Initiative and the Institute of Strategy and Tactics Research (ISTR), the launch marks a pivotal moment in reshaping global discourse on environmental justice and human responsibility.
The Chief Executive of Change Initiative, M. Zakir Hossain Khan, along with the full editorial and organizing team from Nature Insights and Change Initiative, was present at the event.
The inaugural issue presents a powerful vision: that natural rights—recognizing rivers, forests, ecosystems, and species as rights-bearing entities—must be placed at the heart of global governance. By granting legal standing to nature, the publication argues, we can align policy and law with ecological limits, restore degraded ecosystems, and protect vulnerable communities from escalating environmental threats.
A highlight of the issue is a feature article by Chief Editor M. Zakir Hossain Khan, exploring “natural rights–led governance” as an urgent and transformative path forward. His analysis demonstrates how legal recognition of nature’s rights fosters intergenerational justice and redefines humanity’s role in protecting the planet.
“This magazine is born from a need to reimagine how we relate to the natural world—not as something to dominate, but as a partner in our shared survival,” said Mr. Khan. “We believe the path to true justice starts by honoring nature’s right to exist, thrive, and regenerate.”
The launch event brought together environmental thinkers, artists, and advocates to celebrate the magazine’s interdisciplinary storytelling approach. Through a blend of scientific research, policy insights, cultural narratives, frontline reporting, fiction, and visual art—including editorial cartoons—Nature Insights offers a vibrant tapestry designed to inform, challenge, and inspire action.
Published in collaboration with Change Initiative and ISTR, Nature Insights bridges disciplines, cultures, and geographies. Its mission: to make environmental knowledge not only evidence-based and accessible but also emotionally resonant and actionable. Content ranges from Arctic climate reflections and African forest conservation to cultural stories from Sajek and interviews with grassroots defenders.
Coinciding with the magazine’s debut is the release of Mr. Khan’s new book, Sovereignty for Nature, Survival for All: Natural Rights–Led Governance Towards a Sustainable Future, which calls for a paradigm shift in global governance—granting ecosystems the same legal rights as individuals and institutions.
“Our goal is to inspire people to discover, analyze, and act,” Mr. Khan added. “Nature Insights isn’t about doom and despair. It’s about hope, accountability, and real solutions.”
Nature Insights is now available in digital and print formats. The inaugural issue features environmental cartoons by emerging artists, explorations of eco-art movements, and thought-provoking reports on the legal, scientific, and ethical dimensions of protecting nature.
Designed for a global audience, the magazine invites contributions from all corners of the world—fostering a truly inclusive conversation about our shared responsibility to the planet.
