  • Muhammed Aziz Khan submitted a Power of Attorney (PoA) for attestation at the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore.

  • This PoA was required as per legal advise, “to give authority to be able to appear and represent Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan in front of a court of law of Bangladesh”.

  • The PoA is still under process in the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore.

Singapore, May 20, 2025 (PR) - We have noticed several newspaper and TV channels have reported that a NID block and travel ban has been imposed upon Mr. Md Abul Kalam Azad on 20th May 2025, by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib upon receiving an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The newspaper reports state that the NID block and travel ban was imposed upon Mr. Md Abul Kalam Azad as he holds a Power of Attorney (PoA) “to transfer the immovable assets in Bangladesh of Summit Group Chairman Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan.” If the ACC has made this statement to the court, then it is entirely false and misleading. No power of attorney has yet been given to anyone.

A Power of Attorney (PoA) was submitted to the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore on 29th April 2025 for attestation but we have not received it back from the High Commission. Thus there is no Power of Attorney (POA) with Mr. Azad. As far as we are concerned, the POA is with the High Commission of Bangladesh for attestation for which the High Commission has taken a fee. Further the PoA format is as per Bangladesh High Commission’s website.

This PoA was required as per legal advise, “to give authority to be able to appear and represent Mr. Muhammed Aziz Khan in front of a court of law of Bangladesh” in order to apply for the unfreezing of Mr. Khan’s personal bank accounts, which were unjustifiably frozen on 6th October 2024 by a Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge.

The PoA under attestation process specifically states that it is “NOT APPLICABLE” for the sale of immovable property. The PoA specifically carved out the rights in relation to sale of property in Section 7 of the format.

Md. Abul Kalam Azad is an officer of Summit Group and we believe this case has been filed and order given for harassment and aimed at causing maximal distress to an employee of the Company.
