To ensure the strength of the primary circuit systems and equipment, hydraulic tests with a pressure of 24.5 MPa have been completed at the first unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP). The Hot Run of the reactor plant will be conducted at the next stage.

The process included several stages, such as preliminary preparation, filling the primary circuit with water, achieving the required pressure and temperature, and preparing the main and adjacent systems. An automated process control system was put into operation to provide management and control of the process parameters during the hydraulic tests. Specialists conducted thorough monitoring of the equipment status, recording all indicators by design requirements and international safety standards.

“The hydraulic tests completed at the Rooppur NPP power unit 1 confirm the high level of quality and safety of our project. This is a significant stage that brings us closer to the next important step, i.e., the hot run of the reactor plant. We are confident that the plant will become a reliable source of energy for Bangladesh for decades to come,” Alexey Deriy, ASE Vice President for Projects in Bangladesh, noted.

Bangladesh's first-ever nuclear power plant is being implemented at Rooppur with Russia's technical and financial support. The plant will host two units each of 1,200 MWe capacity with 3+ generation VVER 1200 reactors. The first unit is getting ready for fuel loading and subsequent start-up in near future. Rosatom Engineering Division is the general designer and contractor of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
