He urges swift action to clear overdue payment from PDB

Indian industrialist Gautam Adani has sought Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus's intervention to settle an overdue payment of nearly $800 million from Bangladesh's Power Development Board, or PDB. Report BDNews24.com

The payment is crucial for maintaining an uninterrupted electricity supply from Adani Group’s coal-based power plant in Godda, Jharkhand.

The Economic Times reported on Monday that Adani said in a letter: “Despite intense pressure from our creditors, we are continuing to fulfil our commitment to Bangladesh. Given this situation, we request your intervention to expedite the payment of the $800 million owed to us by PDB."

The Hindustan Times, citing the Economic Times, reported that Adani’s letter highlights the need for regular payment of bills to continue the electricity supply agreement.

It also notes that substantial arrears have accumulated monthly, causing operational difficulties.

Adani took this step to recover unpaid electricity supply bills from Bangladesh that had accumulated over eight to nine months.
