Dhaka, March 23, 2020 (BSS) – Confidence Group and Bangladesh Independent Power Producers’ Association (BIPPA) today started distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to hospitals, police and fire fighters to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Confidence Group and BIPPA, a platform of private power plant owners, this morning began the initial distribution of 4,000 PPEs, said a press release.

 

Confidence Group handed over 180 sets of PPEs to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University’s Vice Chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua.

 

Besides, 500 sets of PPEs were handed over to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital (KBFGH). COVID-19 control room of KBFGH focal person Dr Sadia received the PPEs.

 

Confidence Group also handed over 60 sets of PPEs to Fire Service and Civil Defence which would be used in ambulances of the force.

 

It also sent 1,000 sets of PPEs for the doctors, nurses and other medical workers of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

 

In addition, Confidence Group would provide 500 sets of PPEs to Dhaka Medical College Hospital tomorrow.

 

On the other hand, BIPPA gave 2,000 sets of PPEs for the members of Bangladesh Police. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and BIPPA President Imran Karim handed over the PPEs to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at ministry office.

 

Nasrul Hamid and Imran Karim later met Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque and informed him of the PPE distribution.

 

Karim told the minister that more individuals and organizations have expressed their interest to prepare and distribute another 50,000 PPEs.

 

Moreover, a BEXIMCO official said BEXIMCO Pharmaceuticals would provide over 90,000 PPEs for government hospitals within one or two days.
