The government is likely to allow a solar-based 100 megawatt (MW) power project near Teesta Barrage on Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) land for a 20-year period under an unsolicited deal.
The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) may pay Tk 3628.80 crore for purchasing electricity having 18.50 percent plant factor under ‘no electricity no payment’ basis, official sources said.
The Power Division is planning to submit a proposal before the cabinet committee on public purchase to allow the proposal anytime soon.
State minister for power and energy Nasrul Hamid has already allowed a summary in this regard.
Consortium of Zhejiang DunAn New Energy Co. Ltd, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation Solar Tech Power Ltd and Amity Solar Ltd will implement the project between Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat districts.
According to the proposal, the consortium, however, will be responsible for land purchase and other expenses, including construction of 40 kilometers evacuation lines and substation, for implementing the project.
The BPDB will have to pay Tk 11.20 for per kilowatt of electricity, official sources said.
