Speakers at a virtual conference focused on solid waste management through community based bio gas generation for building smart and healthy cities.

Global Development Charity Practical Action organized the virtual the 20th National Renewable Energy Conference and Green Expo 2020 titled “Biogas Based Power Generation for Smart and Healthy City” with Md Helal Uddin, additional secretary, Power and Energy Ministry, in the chair.

Md Helal Uddin focused on the fact that the reduction of waste generation and greenhouse gas emission is the way leading to achieve greener, smart and healthy cities.

“We have to come out of the concept of biogas that includes some animals, a plant and a digester which will eventually stop working after serving several months. We must upscale biogas and biogas-based power generation to a commercial level, so that biogas can take care to reduce the carbon dioxide emission,” he said.
