State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has warned against undertaking unplanned and unnecessary power projects, stressing that public funds must be used only for initiatives that deliver clear benefits.
At a recent meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Amit directed officials to assess proposed projects based on necessity, economic feasibility and long-term public interest before seeking approval.
He also called for a comprehensive, integrated mapping of Bangladesh’s mineral resources to support better planning and coordination among government agencies.
At another meeting on improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the energy sector, the state minister ordered officials to prepare zone-wise assessments of energy demand and supply and identify infrastructure constraints.
He stressed the need for efficient use of domestic resources and faster measures to strengthen the capacity and efficiency of the power and energy sector.
