DHAKA, October 12, 2026: Greener Garments Initiative (GGI) Limited and Jamuna Group have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to install 34 MWp of rooftop solar capacity at Jamuna Group’s factories, marking the largest operational expenditure (OPEX)-based commercial and industrial rooftop solar agreement of its kind in Bangladesh to date.
The agreement was signed on October 8 in Dhaka by Sumaiya Rozalin Islam, Group Director of Jamuna Group, and Nure Alam, CEO of GGI.

Under the agreement, GGI will fully finance the solar installations, while its founding partner, SOLshare, will handle engineering, procurement and construction, as well as operation and maintenance for 20 years. Jamuna Group will require no upfront investment and will pay for the electricity generated.
The solar systems are expected to produce around 46,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 30,000 tonnes a year.
The initiative will help Jamuna Group reduce its carbon footprint, lower energy costs and meet the sustainability requirements of international buyers. As Jamuna Group’s factories also supply global fashion company BESTSELLER, the project is expected to contribute to reducing supply-chain emissions.

GGI Chairman Willem Grimminck said rooftop solar could help Bangladeshi manufacturers reduce energy costs, meet international environmental requirements and strengthen relationships with global buyers.
Jamuna Group’s Group Director Sumaiya Rozalin Islam said the partnership would support the company’s efforts to reduce emissions, meet buyers’ compliance standards and maintain export competitiveness.
GGI CEO Nure Alam said the company also offers decarbonization solutions, including battery storage, heat recovery, energy efficiency and water treatment, to help manufacturers advance their sustainability goals.
