DHAKA, August 11, 2026: Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has signed a financing agreement with M. S. Dyeing, Printing & Finishing Ltd. (MSDPFL) to develop a 5.85 MWp industrial rooftop solar power project at the BSCIC Industrial Estate in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
The project will install solar systems across 13 industrial rooftops and is expected to generate around 6.3 GWh of clean electricity annually. Once operational, the facility is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,900 tonnes a year while lowering the company’s dependence on grid electricity.
Under the agreement, IDCOL will provide financing along with technical support and long-term performance monitoring to ensure efficient operation of the solar installations.
The agreement was signed at IDCOL’s headquarters in Dhaka by S. M. Monirul Islam, Acting Managing Director of IDCOL, and Md. Mamunur Rashid, Managing Director of MSDPFL. Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), and senior officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony.
Monirul Islam highlighted the potential for scaling up industrial rooftop solar across Bangladesh and reaffirmed IDCOL’s commitment to mobilizing private-sector investment for clean-energy projects.
BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem described the project as an important step towards sustainable manufacturing, noting that greater adoption of green infrastructure can strengthen the global competitiveness and long-term sustainability of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.
Md. Mamunur Rashid said integrating renewable energy into MSDPFL’s operations would improve energy efficiency while strengthening the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The project supports Bangladesh’s renewable-energy and climate commitments under its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). IDCOL has so far financed around 300 MWp of rooftop solar projects and aims to finance 1,200 MWp of industrial solar capacity by 2030.
The initiative also highlights the growing role of rooftop solar in reducing industrial electricity costs, cutting emissions and improving energy security in Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector.
