The Bangladesh Water and Power Engineers Association (BWPEA) organized an exchange of views meeting of its Central Executive Committee for the 2025–26 term in Cox’s Bazar on Friday, 26 December 2025. The meeting was held at the conference hall of the BPDB Distribution Division, Cox’s Bazar.

 

Prior to the meeting, BWPEA arranged a colorful rally at Laboni Beach at 2:45 pm titled “Rally for Green Environment and Clean Ocean.” The rally was organized under the theme “Engineers’ Commitment: Clean Ocean and a Sustainable Bangladesh through Green Energy and Renewable Power.”

 

Following the rally, participating engineers took part in a beach clean-up campaign, demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection. Through placards, banners, and festoons, the engineers called upon the public to use natural resources responsibly, keep sea beaches clean, reduce plastic use, and adopt environmentally friendly lifestyles.

 

The exchange of views meeting commenced at 4:00 pm with Engr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), attending as the Chief Guest. The meeting was presided over by Engr. Md. Shahjahan Siraj, President of BWPEA, while Engr. Md. Shahedul Azim Sazal, MBAPMP®, Secretary General of BWPEA, delivered the welcome address.

 

Special guests at the event included Engr. Md. Zahurul Islam, Member (Generation), BPDB, and Mr. Aminul Haque, Member (Administration), BPDB.

 

Speakers at the meeting emphasized that engineers are the key driving force behind the country’s sustainable development. They highlighted the critical role of leadership and professional expertise of engineers in the power and water sectors in advancing national progress and stressed the importance of bringing the Bangladesh Power Development Board and the Bangladesh Water Development Board under the cadre service system.

 

The speakers also noted that engineers are continuously enhancing their professional skills and capacities and are playing a vital role in sustaining the country’s development momentum during this crucial period. Reaffirming their commitment to infrastructure development and technological advancement, they expressed confidence that collective efforts would continue to ensure national prosperity.

 

The event was attended by members of BWPEA’s Central Executive Committee, branch committee leaders, and engineers from the power and water sectors representing various regions of the country.
