
Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, February 18, 2025 (PR) – Excelerate Energy, in collaboration with the Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh, has officially inaugurated the first phase of the Excelerate Hope Hospital in Kutubjom, Moheshkhali. This milestone marks a significant achievement in providing vital maternal healthcare services to the local community. The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including government officials, Excelerate Energy representatives, and Hope Foundation members.
The newly inaugurated Excelerate Hope Hospital spans 17,280 square feet and will begin providing outpatient care immediately. It will eventually become a modern 30-bed healthcare facility, equipped with medical equipment. Designed to serve the residents of Moheshkhali, especially women and children, the hospital aims to address healthcare disparities in the region and further solidifies Excelerate Energy and the Hope Foundation’s shared commitment to improving lives.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech by Commodore (ret.) Habib Bhuiyan, Country Manager of Excelerate Energy Bangladesh Limited. In his address, Mr. Habib emphasized Excelerate Energy’s commitment to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, highlighting the company's dedication to not only energy supply but also social development and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Peter Haas, Strategic Advisor at Excelerate Energy, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of the initiative in improving healthcare access for underserved communities. "Excelerate Energy is a long-term partner with Bangladesh. We are committed to both strengthening Bangladesh’s energy security, and to partnering with others to improve the well-being of the people in the communities where we operate," said Mr. Haas.
Dr. Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, ndc, Additional Secretary (Development) at the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, expressed her appreciation, recognizing the crucial role of public-private partnerships in advancing healthcare infrastructure in Bangladesh. "I believe that the people of this area will greatly benefit if they can make proper use of the facilities provided by this hospital. Moreover, through such endeavor, we can ensure quality healthcare for everyone," she remarked.
The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Lutfey Siddiqi, Honorable Chief Adviser's Special Envoy on International Affairs, who connected via Zoom to commend the journey and stress the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the country. In his speech, Mr. Lutfey Siddiqi said, “The action taken by Excelerate Energy and Hope Foundation is highly commendable and timely. The establishment of this hospital, with a special focus on ensuring modern healthcare services for women and children, is undoubtedly a remarkable step.” He also said, “Excelerate Hope Hospital funded by Excelerate Energy's CSR initiative is a great display of Excelerate's strong friendship with Bangladesh and their commitment for the well-being of the local community. I hope this friendship will be enhanced further in the coming days.”
