Two security guards members at the S Alam Group-owned coal powered plant in Gondamara have been 'stabbed' to death in Chattogram's Banshkhali. Report BDnews24.com

The incident occurred around 2:50am on Monday inside the power plant.

One of the dead, Sarwar Alam, 51, was a retired senior warrant officer of the Bangladesh Army. He was the assistant security officer in charge at the SS Power Plant. The other was Rashed Jawarder, 22, security guard of the power plant.

Sarwar hailed from Talma village in Faridpur's Nagarkanda. Rashed was a native of Sarbankhola village in Rajbari's Pangsha.

“Two people entered the power plant with the intent to steal. As they were fleeing, Sarwar and Rashed tried to stop them. The thieves attacked them and stabbed them severely. Then they fled the scene. The injured were taken to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared them dead," said Tofael Ahmed, chief of Banshkhali Police Station.

“The bodies were sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after police prepared the Surathal or first report."

Additional policemen were deployed at the scene and a legal case was also being prepared, the OC said.

The $2.6 billion 1,320 MW SS Power Plant near the Bay of Bengal was built jointly by the S Alam Group and Chinese construction company SEPCO3.
