Dhaka, Jan 11, 2021 (PR) - Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) as part of its contribution towards development of power sector in Bangladesh has recruited first batch of engineer trainees for its 2X660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Project, Rampal, Bagerhat.

 

Starting today on11th January, 2021, these 43 engineering trainees would undergo a three month long foundation training program at the Power Management Institute (PMI) of NTPC Ltd. in Noida, UP of India. During this training, they will receive firsthand knowledge and skills at various coal based power plants of NTPC Ltd. in India which will equip them to work efficiently at their workplace at Rampal Power Project. These newly recruited engineers would also have the opportunity to get exposed in various manufacturing units of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) to enhance their knowledge further.

 

Muhammad Imran, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to New Delhi, India has formally inaugurated the training program as Chief Guest while Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC Ltd. Gurdeep Singh presided over the function.

 

The program was also attended by Chandan Kumar Mondal, Director (Commercial and Director, BIFPCL Board), Col. V.K.S Tomar, OSD, Bangladesh, Ministry of External Affairs. Govt. of India, DS Rao, ED, PMI, NTPC and senior officials of High Commission of Bangladesh to India, NTPC Ltd. and PMI. Managing Director, BIFPCL delivered welcome speech while DS Rao, ED, PMI extended vote of thanks.

 

While giving his keynote address at this function, Muhammad Imran, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India recalled the historical background of these two friendly nations, Bangladesh and India. He said through the implementing of Maitree Super Thermal Power Project in Rampal by BIFPCL, the bilateral relationships between these great neighbors would be further strengthened and enriched. He urged the newly recruited engineers to acquire knowledge and skills from this training so that they would be able to replicate the same in Rampal Power Project and groom as power ambassadors in Bangladesh.

 

Chairman and Managing Director, of NTPC Ltd., Gurdeep Singh in his speech emphasized the importance of first batch in shaping the culture of organization. He urged trainees to get involved in the training so that they get the best out of this world class training experience in NTPC's training institute PMI and utilize it at the Maitree Project. This surely will make the existing bond between these great neighboring countries stronger, he added.
